& not a single practical demonstrations required, nor any flying of any kind at all.....every 71 of the lessons mastered from the comfort of Your armchair; including flying in the Alps, to recovering from incipient vortex ring outstanding; I'll take 3 copies...that's 213 skills mastered! Thank You

Agreed book lesson is good awareness to a possible mechanism to a problem, don't let it fool you that it is enough.
Experiencing a real unexpectedly degrading situation at the controls and having your instructor letting you mess up just enough before resolving the problem is much more effective.

I suppose some here prefer the "learn as you go method" and have no need to expand their knowledge by study outside the cockpit.

If you are that person....keep your Life Insurance paid up.

Your Wife and Kids will thank you for it one day.
