Chris Pittaway LVO

For those who might not know Chris Pittaway, previous Chief Pilot of the Queen's Helicopter Flight passed away suddenly on 21 June 2019.

Oh that’s sad news. Chris was one of a number of instructors who carried out my ab initio training at Skyline Helicopters at Wycombe Air Park in 1989-90. He was such a calm, easy-going instructor, with oodles of patience and he naturally inspired confidence.

Very sorry to hear that. Chris and I were on D Squadron together in the mid 1980s; a really nice guy.

That's sad news. Chris was my instructor at 705 back in 1981; I couldn't have wished for a better start to my helicopter flying career.

RIP, Chris.
I met Chris a few times whilst working alongside he and his crew. I didn't know him well, but he always appeared to be a complete gentleman.
