Buy or leasing a helicopter?

In your opinion, from a business perspective, is it better to own or lease a helicopter? I intend to become an owner-pilot operator. This would be to offer services such as charter and aerial work. I'm sure there are VAT and other tax implications which would be great to hear. What are the pitfalls to either owning or leasing a helicopter? Does it depend on whether the engine is a piston v turbine? Does the answer depend on the purchase price or manufacturer (e.g. AW109 or R66)? Look forward to hearing your thoughts and wisdom.

If it floats, flies or f*cks..... RENT IT

Works for me...

Are you planning on having an AOC?

Having done both over the last 40 years I would say stay away from the aoc route !!! It will cost you more than you make . Having said that , I’m not sure you can lease or own and fly yourself . Get your clients to lease the aircraft and you manage it all and do the flying .
