Every photo of the starboard side of the aircraft that I can find has the "APU" above the sponson, so I don't think this is a test bed fitment.
As the S92 comes with an APU by default, it doesn't make much sense to have to test one on a totally different platform.
So the VH-3 comes equipped with an APU as standard
