R44 Astro tech question
I'm not not a helicopter man though flying rotary. A guy who is flying very old R44 Astro here asked me to find some spares for that his can of bolts. He needs in particular to replace TR teeter hinge spherical bearings which are B115-1 or D115-1 in parts catalogs. My questions are what is the difference between these B and D, how can I guess which ones are used in his TR and what are best sources to get these spares?
Thanks to all,
Alex

Mate. You don't guess what parts you need for the helicopter. The mechanic responsible for maintaining the helicopter should contact the local RHC Field Rep if he needs clarification on a replacement part. And the best source of parts is the manufacturer, or authorized local RHC distributor.

RHC are forward thinking enough to publish their IPC online, so with a bit of knowledge of how to use the IPC and armed with the ship build number (not the registration) you should be able to correctly identify which part you need, and safely eliminate all guess work!
Alternatively, leave it to you correctly licensed engineer?

You're both right, guys.
The problem is this is very old helo bought for a penny by a young man with limited wallet who is a total newbee in rotary flight, otherwise he'd never bought it. I met him after he purchased this gift of fortune and now I'm trying to made something to save him some hundred bucks and to probably save his butt from serious problems. I spent last two days balancing his MR which had 1.8 IPS shake - now it has 0.04. But I also told him that he shouldn't fly his thing before his TR is repaired etc. I'm just looking for new information in this new (for me) world of helos. Thus such unusual questions.
I understand about RHC, licensed engineers etc - but it's Russia and some certain lack of knowledgeable tech men.

The current IPC online does not show a B115-1 part, only D115-1.

It would appear so!

Maybe this is the „due for overhaul“ 44 that is only gone fly within a 100 mile radius

There is no difference between the Astro and Raven I other than the mod for bladder tanks and then the hydraulics! The new Raven I's are coming out with 24V but will not effect the current Astro's and Raven I's. There should be no issue with the part numbers as the parts have only changed in quality and not shape/size to fitment area. Check out the Raven I parts manual and you will find the latest part number! Good luck.
