Bell 206 free compass

Hi all has any one seen a free compass fitted to the top of the cockpit in a 206 as Bell place it in the most stupid place?

It wasn't put there for fun or as an inconvenience to the pilot. It was put there as apparently that is the place where it receives minimal magnetic interference from wiring harnesses.

I have in the past had trouble locating mine, which could go some way explaining some of my more questionable decisions....

Those Moral Compass things are very hard to find....usually late at night when the Alcohol level in the bowl is over filled in the presence of a female.

I seem to recollect that after N/S and E/W have been adjusted, the residual error is taken out by bending the mounting bracket!

Mine used to fly of shore in the gulf when it was new and its got a lot of avionics but they are old like me now think its going to get a refit

Levo....think 1960-1970's old.....no GPS, no Loran, no ADF....just a watch, compass, and at best a Field Diagram.

Clock & compass, that was hard work!
I've got a gig in a jetranger for a few weeks after not flying one for 10 years, it has a compass AND an ashtray - top of the line model this one.

I bet you didn’t realise back then that the lighter was just keeping the power socket for the GPS warm until it was invented.
