That is a very fair point jayteeto and I am not casting aspersions on the crew about tasking - they go when they are told. However, UK urban tasking really improved in the early 1990s. Sadly now there is a belief HEMs are being used simply to fill deficits in NHS funded land resources in the same way as midwives and first aiders are sent when the ambulances are in a queue outside A and E. Doesnt help those of us who have called for proper audit of the benefit of correctly tasked HEMS and a fully integrated NHS service within a national trauma service.
