Spares? No chance.
The only reason for the change of policy is that the company doesn't have enough pax lifejackets to equip the fleet we have so in their wisdom they have decided to take all of the LJ's off the aircrew and use these for one of the aircraft.
Sweat soaked jackets wouldn't be too much of a concern if we were wearing flying suits but as it's so hot where we are operating, it's short sleeved cotton T-shirts for everyone and it would only take seconds for someone else's sweat to soak through to skin.

Actualy have found that a flight suit is cooler than a T- shirt and shorts..but that is just my opinion.
Good luck in a fire.

What we wear is short sleeved shirts (not T-Shirts).
We wear black cotton trousers and not shorts.

When we started on the NS in the mid-70's we had life jackets under the seat like the pax. The powers that be then decided that we should have the pouch tied around the waist. In Norway meanwhile, these 'once-only' lifejackets taken from their stowage and worn by the crew over their white shirts or blue wooly-pully... later we had flight suits. No goon-suits in those days. I managed to get hold of a military style LJ which was cool but of course, no one knew how to service it.
In BHL we shared jackets but they were all 'medium' size. I had to have a 'large' and some colleagues needed a 'small' but apart from the small band of 'non-mediums', everyone shared jackets that were allocated to airframes.

Anybody know the price for the above. I suspect that the $100 quoted above for a jacket
would probably buy a couple of nose clips for these.

If it's the same jacket that I'm thinking about, I understand that Bristow pilots were initially issued with them. However, they were so uncomfortable and unpopular that the pilots started to refuse to wear them. They were subsequently replaced by the Viking jackets (which the other operators were using).

The Survitec MK51 Sentinal jacket came about for the need to phase out mk44 and the classic MK25 jacket and have a uniformed jacket for front and rear crew with spray hood and pockets for new sarbes. Bristow where involved from the start in the design and helped with the R&D with Survitec. It's basically a MOLLE MK25 vest with a reshaped Stole.
No one has much postive to say about it. Hence your finding Viking Jackets and small numbers of Switlik are coming into play.
