Aren't they MTOW restricted on the new ships and can't carry as much as the 212's due to the 412 having a higher Empty Weight?

That tender process was messed up!

The 212's they had had served a long and successful service, but needed to be retired to avoid another Sea King fiasco. The 412 met the requirements while Airbus and Agusta could not. Simple.
