There have been a number of crashes, several fatal, since hunting from helicopters was legalized.

I don't know how a casing could interfere with an R44 controls. I have had just-fired brass fly into my collar and down my shirt. A good brief on the possibilities and a brass-catcher seem like very, very good ideas.

There are gaps near where the tail rotor pedals go thru the cabin floor. a shell casing could and can easily get down there..Ive found spent casings during 100 hour inspection under the co pilot floor.
