there are a fair few people out of work in the offshore industry who have lots of experience who are looking for work. That experience is low if you ask me.

I agree with Helimutt that that experience is not that high at all, except that the 30 hours NVG is a deal breaker high time 139 people who mostly don't have NVG experience.

Actually that's pretty low hours really. 139's have been around for a while now, and there's no shortage of guys/gals flying them for EMS/SAR that would tick all the boxes.

I'm not aware that they have won new offshore work which requires NVG time. Anyone know if it's an onshore job they've won somewhere unusual, hence the NVG requirement? I know there's a tender out in Kuwait and some limited stuff in some 'sporty' locations but is this Gulf going toe to toe with the Everett's of the world and their support in (former) conflict zones?

My money is on fishing for the Kuwait Oil tender and using the NVG filter to eliminate the majority of applicants so they have less CVs to sift through. As noted above, the hours burden is not that high and lots of unemployed people at present. What do Gulf pay? Last time we had this chat was about 6-10 months ago and it was $350 a day time on only with varying rosters.

Seeing as there are a number of military and HEMS 139's in Qatar, perhaps it is something to do with that...

You would barely be competent with 30 hours NVG.

Although Babcock seems like a well-respected company, how come HR-department is unable to acknowledge receiving the application and a 'simple' reply with an 'unfortunately you did not make the cut'?

Marking dip...

When i posted a job offer, specifying the minimum requirements-i received about 10-15 emails a day from pilots FULLFILLING the requirements, and about 100 a day from pilots who were not even CLOSE to fulfilling the requirements.

When sending a quick "Sorry, but you don´t qualify" email to those 100, i received snotty emails back-like "You must understand my hours count double, because i was flying in the military/Offshore/at night"......"I may not have the required hours, but i am a really good pilot, why don´t you give me a chance, as i can fly better than some pilots with more hours"...

Maybe this is why they don´t bother....?
