The system had back ups and the back ups worked correctly. I still have confidence in the 135 fuel system. However, knowing your systems is essential to flight safety. All I offer here is a POSSIBLE explanation as to why a pilot MAY have had some confusion. It is NOT an excuse, because the information was still available to me in my incident.
Jay....my comment means when given two indications that generate an incongruity, or are ambiguous, or otherwise in conflict....especially when it comes to fuel quantity....go with the one that presents the worst situation.
As you very correctly tell folks re the correct action to be taken when the Red Lights illuminate....you are endorsing what I mean by the one dissenting vote rule.
Either system, quantify of low contents warning....might be wrong....heck...they both might be wrong....but go with the worst case scenario as you describe.
Elapsed Time might be ok, Fuel Quantity might be ok....but the Low Contents Warning illuminates....there is the one dissenting vote re continuing the flight.
Any one of the three that says continued flight is not right....is the dissenting vote.

Agreed totally
my #602 statement is relevant to the questions being asked. WHY did he keep going, he must have chosen to press on with no fuel.
yes he did
but he MAY have been confused by indications, he MAY NOT have been arrogant and reckless, just confused. It doesn’t change the cause, but it could explain some things

For sure he did not set out to wind up in a situation such as he did.
He was a very experienced pilot from all that I have heard.
As usual....that is what is so troubling in these events....it could have happened to most any of us.

wha
t if he did control his Nr?
what if he misjudged the height / flared too high / pulled in power too high / was left too high with no Nr
so we agree he didn’t arrive at the ground properly, but how do you KNOW why? Assumption again? Or were you there?

And being confused may have contributed to his inability to control his NR.

Confusion uses up mental capacity, maybe it affected his ability to control his Nr? Maybe he did successfully enter autorotation but misjudged his height/situation? One thing is certain, he did not control his Nr all the way to the ground. I'm not criticising, just trying to understand.

My best pilot is one who can continue to fly when there are other important things occupying their immediate attention...
One thing to be considered in this accident is that if the pilot did not intervene at all in the fuel system we wouldn't be having this discussion.
TC - not to my knowledge but I have just had to repost on the VNE thread because a post disappeared.
