Ian Paull

One of Australia's best known helicopter pilots has decided its time to hang up his commercial flying helmet and enjoy a few beers.

Today was a memorable day at Airwork Caboolture.

If the story is correct, Ian's first helicopter flight in the Oz army in the late sixties was with Tub in a Bell47.

Today was Ian's last as PIC and guess who he flew with and what type of Helicopter.... yep.... with Tub in a 47.

Photos of today's flight : https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=AB27B...50d530%2123917

There are plenty of words I could use to describe Ian such as: professional/just the best/ace of the base but I prefer to use these: " a highly respected good bloke".

Thanks for your many moons of support Ian.. its been a great journey made better through knowing you.

Thanks also to MT for the prawns, XXXX and bush stories to make the day even better

Wish I could of been there.

The Australian heli community has really lost a top instructor/ATO/mentor now that Ian has decided to hang up his headset.

Great photos TC

I'm surprised the universe didn't implode with them 2 in a 47 together.

All the very best Ian, now officially an old fart. Two old farts in fact, the air is going to be thick down at the local rubbery.

Thumbs up

Shyks Ian, Your too young to hang them DC's up so soon......I still remember my grade 1 instructor rating initial flight test with You; about 10 years ago, like as if it was last week? Yes it was great fun, but bludy damn hard, with precision full-down autos @ YCDR stopping sliding in to within 1 foot of a predesignated gable marker from the opposite end of the runways Your a Grand Master flyer - thank You

Where-ever Your travels take You now Ian, Mate; Be Happy & Be at Peace......You've done a Great Service for the Rotory World of Oz!!! Thank You

All the Best

VF

PS: You'll be back...............
