Question: BK 117 C1 engine controls
Hey guys,
There's one thing I've always wondered about and I guess here will be someone who can help me understanding this.
On the BK 117 C1's overhead panel, where the engine power levers are located, there's an area labeled "EMER" which looks like you could slide the levers there. Up there is also a long, silver splint pin with a ring. Seems to be related to the levers somehow?
Well I couldn't find a C1 Flight Manual on the Internet, so that question tortures me for ages now.
It would be awesome if someone could be so kind and explain what exactly happens when you move the levers to this position and what that silver splint pin does
Here are two pictures i found so you know what I mean:

Thanks!

BK117B2 vs BK117C1
Hi there,
I'm looking for information about BK117 C1. We are small company operating 2 BK117A4 for EMS operation. We are looking for the third one, undecided between the B2 model to the C1.
Is there any one with some experience with the C1?
Someone can recommend between these Two?
Thanks

Hi Johnny,
We operate both, B2 and C1
B2 with Lycoming
C1 with Turbomeca
So consideration should be also your maintanance possibilities.
C1 different Cockpitlayout with electrics (Inverter, Main, SPAS) in ℅-Pilot overhead.
C1 faster start with gyros etc.
No need to switch generators on/off - just leave the switches on.
Only 30 sec cooldown before shutdown.
With VARTOMS (our) TQ matching is done automaticly
2 of the 3 C1 have more power than the B2s - the third C1 is said to be within the limits- but feels just powerless, when loaded
C1 no problems with cut grass on the intakes (B2 a pain in summer outside landings)
Any more questions?
