Failure of plastic washer in R44 FCU
There has been a reported incident of an engine stoppage on one machine in NZ. Reports are following that the washer/bearing in the FCU is failing and getting through the fuel system.

No! couldn't possibly happen! After all, these parts go through very strict and thorough Airworthiness certifications....that's why they are hundreds of times more expensive than standard, off the shelf components.

NZCAA issue Emergency AD DCA/MA/17
Inligth of the continuing notification of defective washers being found in response to NZCAA CAN 73-003, an Emergency AD has been issued. CASA are looking to follow with an AWB.
