R22 heavy collective.

Hi all,

We have a R22 Beta II that has a very heavy collective lever so heavy that most of us that have flown it have to check that we have taken the collective friction off.

It has recently had an overspeed and has had all checks and the spindle bearings replaced. The friction has been checked and loosened a bit by the engineer but the collective is still very heavy. It feels normal on a full and free check only heavy when blades a turnin.

Any ideas?

Huey

The collective spring is set incorrectly. Get an engineer to adjust for you or replace it, Sometimes the springs wear with age and cannot be adjusted to within tolerances and have to be replaced. It's in the maintenance manual section 8.220.
