10 day helicopter trip
I was asked to join a private pilot on a 10 day helicopter trip through Europe.
And of course I´m gonna fly with him
He wants me to do all the flight planning and assist him with radio communication.
Now I need to find a comfortable way to get access to Charts and AIPs from all European countries.
I´m thinking of investing into a tablet computer and get a software which provides everything I need. Of course I would also get paper charts.
Any idea what Software/Apps for Tablet or Windows Laptop is suitably.
Carrying AIPs for 28 countries is not an option...
And the Eurocontrol Homepage is just a pain in the ass.
So far I´m looking at Jeppesen JepView VFR Europe including the Ipad App.
any help is appreciated

Start will be somewhere in Russia not to far from Europe. I guess he wants to see as much as possible in 10 days. I´m also waiting for more detailed information.

+1 for skydemon on iPad/iPad mini. If you post the countries you need someone can tell you if it has all the relevant countries included in it's mapping/database. It will do your flight plans, notams, RA(T)'s etc. As has been said, it's all you need
Air nav is good but really you need to buy all the local charts through it (as well as holding the paper copies onboard to do it properly), by which time you'll have paid for skydemon twice over and Air Nav has way less functionality.
Having said that, it has most of Europe, America, Africa, Austraila and New Zealand, but not Russia...
Sounds fun! Enjoy

Keep in mind the legality of the previously mentioned if you get ramp checked.
Also another most useful tool is RocketRoute. Magic!

Speaking of which - Skydemon enables you to print directly from the app the notams, weather, weight and balance (takes a bit of time to set up), relevant plates and pilots log, all in about 30 seconds but to do so you must have an AirPrint printer as you can't email them to yourself to print unfortunately. Of course you should have the real charts too...

AIP's all together. Free registration and read as much as you like!
I like the website govfr.com for planning long routes, getting a feel for the distances and alternates. Also got into the habit of putting nice castles, and other interesting sightseeing 'objects' as waypoints on the gps.
A little offtopic but maybe useful to share some highlights of Europe, on the closer side to Russia..... in no particular order:
- The canyons of Montenegro and Sveti Stefan - including very nice hotel.
- Daniub Delta on the black sea - you could enter from Russia via Tulcea.
- Brasov area in Romania nice mountains and Pelis & Dracula Castle.
(there's also a friendly heliport there)
- The Adriana 1 route following the Croatia coast, with some island hopping.
- Amazing castles, mountains and lakes in Austria, I used Klagenfurt aiport as a temporary base (no off-airport landings allowed).
- Tatry mountains of Poland & Slovakia, with a number of nice helipads and small mountain airports.
- Portoroz airport in Slovenia (nice area and nice people there)
- Lido airport in Venice (arrange a pickup by boat)
- Budapest (Tokol), Vienna (Voslau), Prague.
Some of above suggestions are out of Schengen, so be careful with planning.
These countries will require copies of registration and insurance for out of EU registered a/c.
Hope this helps! Enjoy it!
