Scout AH1 squadron in Germany

Hi!

Does anybody know to which BAOR squadron Scout AH.1 XT638 belonged during 1978/79? I carried a small red badge beneath the left cockpit door with a white "animal" in it.

Thanks for your help!

That would be the Maid Of Warsaw, 651 Sqn in Verden. Awarded for spiking some guns way back when. Happy days.

Sotiras. No most were AAC Flights and Squadrons by then (I seem to recall that perhaps the 16/5 at Wolfenbuttel were one of the last air troops to go, but could easily be wrong).

I was a member of 1 Div Engrs Air Troop based at Verden, (Regiment in Nienburg), I was demobbed in early 1968 and I don't think the Air Troop concept lasted much after 1970.

26 Flight AAC were also at Verden but were eventually packed off to either Hildesheim or Celle, can't remember which! Anyone?

AAC in the sixties/seventies

Thanks to all for the information about XT638!

Does anyone have some pictures of the heliports inside the barracks of Verden, Soltau and Herford? Are there pictures of Scout AH1 and Sioux AH1 showing them on the heliports?

Verden was more or less a stableyard - will see what I have. You're not a spy are you?

I joined 26 flight AAC in 1968 and was with it when it became ? interim squadron (forgotten the title) and then 651. Some time in 1971 I think it was, the Sioux were sent to Minden and Soltau and their Scouts went to Verden. Arnie Palmer was the boss then and the best I ever served under.

Hi,

no I´m not a spy, well have a look at www.sg-etuo.de

for my "spy work"!

I´m writing a short report about all AAC bases in Germany, because Gütersloh is the last and we then make a link from our site!
