Upgrade of Bell L4 avionics.

Has anybody out there put a GTN750/650 stack in the Bell L4? Pictures, cost, reviews would be great. US aircraft, looking at upgrade options.
Thanks for any tips.

I know a guy who put it in a 407, along with a G500H.

It is a very smart set up and easy to use. The capabilities of it very impressive, the biggest problem we had was remebering to look outside, we were getting too foucused on playing with it and looking at the very nice graphics. As for cost I don't know.

No pictures either I'm afarid.

GTN heads up

Be aware that the GTN series is not yet STC'd for rotorcraft installs, though there have been several field installs done under 337's.

The vibration testing is the hold up. The aluminum (i think) trays for the units were cracking under stress, and they are being beefed up (and I believe made of stainless) for helicopter installations.

Also, if you are interested in HTAWS, not possible with the GTN's now available, and was told by Garmin there will not be an upgrade path.

The HTAWS database and logic (far, far fewer nuisance alerts) is way better for low level flying and worth the wait.

Good luck.

Thanks for the input folks. We have seen a couple G500H installs with the GTN 750 unit. Very nice but maybe out of our budget. Too bad you can't just put in the 750/650 stack for a little less.

SN 52400

Al Morrison of Calgary just bought that L4. I haven't a chance to take a look at it yet.
