Problem getting US Visa's for Flight Training?
Having trouble getting a Visa to the USA to do your flight training?
Don't worry....just get a tourist visa....don't go home....do your training and get your license...then worry about getting caught!
A wonderful case of what is wrong with too large a government...the one hand does not know what the other hand is doing....and when the guvmint has arms like a mutant octopus....who knows what will happen. Here the TSA, Immigration, and the FAA all are doing their own thing without any consideration of what the others are doing or not doing re Visa's, flying training, and National Security.

You could just file a flight plan and fly yourself home?
In related news; I hear the FAA are launching a new 'Flying Saucer' rating for Aliens out there who are currently 'Flying Illegally' however TSA clearance is still required and unfortunately, at this stage, the TSA are only able to clear residents of Planet Earth.

SAS, as much as i cannot condone people who overstay their visa or visa waiver or even enter the country illegally, it does not necessarilly require a visa to train in aviation in the USA..
If one is eligible for an ESTA entry into the US or the old visa waiver system, then as long as you are not attending a full time course of study and the study is secondary to your visit, ie. vacation, then you are breaking no laws in undergoing training without a Visa.
I got this direct from the US embassy in London.
Yes you still have to register with the TSA for an initial certificate or initial Instrument rating but that's it.
As much as it would make sense for the TSA to talk to the ICE or DofL andI it is not an essential requirement, if flight schools were checked upon more or they checked that their students had permission to train before training commenced on the threat of heavy penalties, surely this would be better?
