A 113 hour pilot is able to accurately assess the cause of the accident.......

As the pilot I think he is in the best position to access the cause and I believe very honest in his comments.

Jed. Can i ask you what you hope to achieve with a comment like that? I for one would be delighted if im still flying at 63, and who better to comment on the accident than the pilot himself? I just find comments like that offensive.

I know it's difficult to interpret the intent of a comment through the written word hence my addition of a facial expression!

Absolutely no offense is meant to anyone.

I think there may be other issues at play that would be worth exploring rather than leave the verdict in the hands of the pilot at the controls.

Now then, what do the panel think about confined areas?

I know I've been caught out a few times by squirelly winds coming from all directions - one minute it's in front of you next behind. It certainly feels like you are over controlling but in reality you are just trying to catch up with the environmental conditions which you're not fully understanding at the time. Practice and currency certainly help.

To answer your question Jed A1 in reference to post #1 in very simple manner,

Before getting in/out of a confined Areas you better know how to drive.

I understand that my remark doesn't help the poor guy with the 44 and also the other guy that called a mayday in bad weather after loosing his DG etc and a Police Helicopter had to go and bring him back to the airport (close by)while witnesses on the ground were taking pictures.

But sometimes, you shake your head and say "what the %$# is going on out there"
