Was the weather flyable at 750ft least for the beginning of yesterdays jubilee float past?
TV coverage lacked some aerial shots showing scale of 1000 boats on the Thames..

A silver 355, presumably Sky News, did venture out for a short time about 90 minutes before the event started and called it quits. Apart from the Met 145, I saw nothing else flying from my vantage point near Pimlico from 8.30am onwards. Early start, good view, resilient British spirit, and good drying out facilities back home later on
If I get to 86 and can stand for four hours thoroughly enjoying what's going on like Her Maj did yesterday, I will be very pleased indeed. Remarkable woman and an inspiration to so many. Keep calm and carry on

If we are going down the 'Royal road' then what I can say is that the British are exceptionally lucky to have a monarch of the calibre of Queen Elizabeth II.
As many would know we 'lost' our royal family through a referendum in which 54% of the voting Italian public had 'had enough' so ending the reign of the House of Savoy (1861-1946).
Sadly, many Britons (so we are told in the media) do not appreciate the sincerity and commitment made by their royal family but .. fear not .. Queen Elizabeth has been 'adopted' by many across the globe as 'their' queen and, consequently, continues to command considerable respect. Her dedication to her duty and the efforts of the British Royal Family overall, are an inspiration to many.
Re: The Jubilee Flypast (RAF), this is scheduled for Tuesday at 3:30pm above the Mall.

Yes, that should make up for the Navy helicopter flypast which was cancelled yesterday.
Savioa - be assured the republicans in the UK are VERY much in the minority. If they did want to make a statement, yesterday would have been a great day - but a group of something like 50 of them by City Hall running a little protest. There again, 1,250,000 others turned out _wanting_ to see HM the Queen. I rest my case!

Down on Embankment next to Waterloo Bridge there were an awful lot of Brits (and visitors) from all walks of life - not a republican amongst us. People standing for hours on end just to get a glimpse of the royal party and the cheers that went up every time they appeared on the big TV screen, show the popularity of the Royal Family is, if anything, in its ascendancy not decline.
The 145 was having fun keeping VMC in a constantly changing but generally low cloudbase but at times I did wish I was up there looking down rather than down there looking up

The Red Arrows in 'Diamond' formation over the Palace earlier today
For those disheartened by missing-out on the RN Flypast (which had been planned for Sunday) .. you may see the rehearsal here.
