The helicopter, a Bell 206 according to the initial accident report, hit a cable and crashed... Very sad.

WSPS Wire strike protection system

When the WSPS first came out for the 206, I thought "Now doesn't that mess up the great looking lines of the JetRanger." Since then I've come to view WSPS in a new light.

Not sure... I did my JAA renewal check ride on the aircraft two years ago, and had the impression that it was purely a VFR ship... Nevertheless, a tragic accident...

Unhappy R.I.P to friends

Today Heliswiss had the names of the pilots on their website, who perished in the crash.

Dr. Catherine Nussbaumer, we had a lot of fun together and also some fights. I do miss her quite a bit.
Alex Bächlin, CEO of Heliswiss and a fine person. We flew together and it was pure joy. One of the best instructors I had the honor to know.
Stefan Bachmann. I don't know him, but it certainly makes me sad.

My thoughts are with family and friends of the Alex, Catherine and Stefan and the staff of Heliswiss and SHM.
