John,

I believe he is refering to this video at 06:33, where it shows an open dirt area with Power Lines in the background and god knows what else lurking about.

Hah - thanks for that 206Fan.

It would be interesting to know what direction he auto'd in from. I suspect on approach to the rooftop his sphincter would have resembled a rabbit's nose.

No such thing as an open area in India....

As a regular traveler to India I would observe that even if this "open area" was within auto distance it is almost certain that it would have been covered with kids playing cricket. :-)

If he had fuel cans in the area they would be used to defuel the helicopter- to reduce the fire hazard & reduce the weight making it easier to handle.

The other videos that 206fan had links. just follow the links. It's a real volume to learn from. (You even look close you can see the blade scares on the cement roof & how the blades were damaged)

If you ever had to auto a 300 you would be looking between your toes for where the landing would be, Glad they walked away- Nice bit of luck.

The group on the roof looked a Cal Trans road crew (1 worker & 25 supervisors)

Fly safe.

In all honesty I don't blame the Pilot aiming for the Rooftop. Less chance of you getting rammed by a stray car on the ground. It is India afterall!
