At least one person was injured and three were missing after a US Coast Guard helicopter crashed in the southern state of Alabama, a spokeswoman said early Wednesday.
Petty Officer Elizabeth Bordelon said the MH-65 Dolphin helicopter carrying four individuals crashed "in the vicinity" of Mobile Bay, Alabama, along the Gulf of Mexico coast, on Tuesday evening.
"Four people were on board. One of the individuals was located and has been taken to a local hospital," she said, adding that she did not yet know his or her medical condition.
Helicopters, a fixed-wing aircraft and several boats were carrying out an intensive search in and around the bay for the other three people, she said.
Bordelon said it was not yet clear what caused the crash.

The rescue swimmer was the one found. He was found unresponsive and never improved despite resuscitation attempts.
It crashed into about 13 feet of water and the nose in embedded in the mud at the bottom of the bay. Divers say the will need to have it recovered because they can't access the cockpit.
