R44s over the Camargue

Yesterday evening around 1800 local, five R44s were flying in loose line astern along the Camargue coastline at Saintes Maries de la Mer, they then turn North towards Arles. As it was unusual to see so many together I thought I would ask if anyone knew what they were doing? Owners safari perhaps?
