I need a landing site near Bedford

Does anyone have any landing sites close to Bedford ?

I need to get close to the NW side of Bedford and I am aware of Bedford Racing cicruit, a site in St. Neot and Cranfield !

I need to be able to operate Class 1 in a 355 for public transport.

Can anyone help me ?

There is a clay-shooting ground just north of Bedford circuit called Sporting Targets who must have had helos visit. They are easily googled, helpful, have a decent cafe etc.

Any good to you? Might be the racing circuit you refer to. It's part of Jonathon Palmer's set up.

Give Helimech Ltd a telephone call (01525 288418 according to Google). They do heli maintainence (very helpful people) and based on junction 13 of M1 just outside Cranfield zone. They have landing site for their maintainence work but may also know the area well so might have other suggestions for sites.

Thanks for the suggestions chaps, the guy who runs Helimech is a mate of mine and he is a bit too far away.

I need to be within 3 or 4 miles of Bedford town if possible.

Slightly tongue in cheek, Bedfordshire Police HQ has a playing field that the ASU uses from time to time. It is right on the edge of the built up area but approach from the west avoids congested areas. Obviously, permission may be a problem, but you could ask.

It will be suitable for your AS355 Class 1 (although that would be your call!)

Most subtle approach would be to call the Chiltern ASU at Henlow, to ask who to talk to.
