JAA (CAA) PPL (H) to FAA PPL (H)

Hi All

Could anyone give me some info on how to go about getting an FAA licence. I currently have a JAA PPL (H) issued by CAA. R44 type rating.

I want to also have the facility of a FAA licence. I have read online its just a paperwork exercise. However I wish to know if I would have to take a FAA skills test and go to the US to make the application at a FSDO office.

Thanks in advance for your comments.
