Went there on a Navy P-3C deployment a few years ago. Horrible place.

Which is probably why the French have a Foreign Legion outpost there.

Horrible? Guess you didn't spend too much time exploring it then. There's much more to Djibouti than the barracks, you know!

Been there for 1 year as a French Navy AL III pilot. Nice fishing village. Remermber my first flight there: OAT 47 C. Taught my mecnav how to land the helo in case of personal heat breakdown.

tonnes of mill guys there, french, british, american, japan, norway and about 15 others, most have a navy there but only the french, american and japs have any aircraft there, not so bad this time of year, was there this time last year, 30 degrees c and the locals were wearing overcoats!!

if you're there for a while go swim with the whale shark, most amazing experience ever!!

mostly nice people, not dangerous if you have a shred of common sense.

stay away from the khat!!

fly safe.
