She'll be missed!

Flew her this summer under a dispensation from the CAA.

Great helicopter!

For those of you bored this evening on Police/SAR or just wanting to avoid the missus you can watch the auction live;

Absolutely mad at even that price?

Why not buy a faster more comfortable more modern 280FX with enough money left over to fly and maintain it for years?

200.000 to 400.000 POUNDS for a Hiller, you would have to be barking to even consider paying that.

Krypton/Heliringer,

I think the point is the history of the helicopter and the fact it was in a James Bond film amongst others (hence the asking price).

Lets face it - the Aston Martin DB5 from Goldfinger (same film) went for a cool £2.6Million so you could argue that was crazy too (why not just buy Bugatti Veyron etc etc).

Anyone who thinks that has anything to do with the value really is bonkers. Evidently aircraft buyers are somewhat more rooted on terra-firma than their car-fancying colleagues on this score. (Tho the car mentioned is a globally recognised icon, hardly the same to be said of the Hiller)

And why "imfamously" flown? I know it was a seriously crap movie, but condemning it to imfamy is a bit harsh - it was only a prop after all.

What an utterly ludicrous price to expect for an ancient Hiller!
