Helicopter Operators

Can any one come up with a good source of publications for helicopter operators worldwide? Addresses, phone numbers, contacts etc. Many thanks in advance.

If you are searching for a comprehensive database then the answer is ... no!

All of the gloabal databases are woefully, and I emphasise the woe, incomplete.

If you require a comprehensive database then you are going to have to address this on a country by country basis and there are few with the patience and commitment to do this unless they are being paid.

As an indication of the kind of commitment you will require;

You will need to contact major publishers such as Shepherd Press (UK) for each country as many of them publish annual operator lists.

Here is the publication (digital) for Canada's 'Helicopter' magazine containing the 2010 list of operators:http://www.mydigitalpublication.com/publication/?m=340&l=1

Aside from the developed nations (and be prepared to spend hours on the North American databse) gaining reliable information about developing nations is a trick! Oftentimes even the local aviation authorities are unwilling to assist (ie. some African nations and parts of Asia).

Good luck!

The Helicopter Association International (HAI) website Homehas a database of all operator HAI members which you can search by country, type, etc. This list is also printed in their year book. Nothing like complete (non-member operators are obviously not included) but it's a start.

Helicopters Magazine and Vertical in Canada each do a directory. Canada411.com is the national telephone directory - just search for helicopters.
