How much do you pay for an LPC?

What are people paying for a single engine piston LPC in the UK these days? I've been quoted some ridiculous prices lately.

I am talking about just the examiner fee, not the aircraft/landing fee/circuit fee/VAT etc.

correct me if i am wrong but about £125 per type i think. i always combine mine with a spring break and do it at sloane mallorca. a bit pricier than that but well worth it for in house examiner with consistent standards.

I've had quotes of over £250, just for one test, on one type!

im 99% sure between £125 and £150 is the standard uk examiner rate. big fan of lpcs always a place for it in the diary. it infuriates me how casual some people are about them. hope that helps.

I normally charge £150, but I am mobile and all are done involving travelling on my part.

Long distance I usually tie up with doing another job or charge a token mileage to make it worth while doing.

£250?!? Are you sure that's not the price they charge for PPL(H) LST?

£125-£150 is the norm.

£125 - £175 is usual, but I've heard of prices up to £300

FAA v CAA test

The typical CAA skills test is likely to be £250/300 , plus any travel cost, which could add another £50/100, then you have to pay the CAA close to £200 for the licence issue fee. total approx £500+..
The FAA tests last 4/6 hours with the examiner, compared to 3/4 with the CAA examiner. The FAA examiner also has to pay the FAA to process the application.

Remember, there is only ONE FAA examiner in EUROPE, I would say £500 for the FAA is a bargain!!!.. I charge CAA LPC £150, CAA skills test £250, plus travel cost, if applicable.
