Recent Afghanistan Helicopter Crash
My condolences to those lost and to their loved ones. Has any word surfaced on the type of aircraft or the speculative cause of the mishap?

According to the thread over on Military Aircrew the Aussie media are reporting it as a Black Hawk, but this is difficult to reconcile with the original reports of 15 POB.

Possible Information Blackout
The Australian S-70A-9 was delivered in a 10 pax configuration. The US Army UH-60s is a 14 pax configuration. This assumes that the seats were installed. It appears as if the original thread was removed from Justhelicopters shortly after the mishap was announced by the press. Some form of information blackout may have been imposed. This happened after a USAF MV 22 went down earlier this year.

Injured soldiers moved to Germany
The Federal Government says all seven Australian soldiers injured in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan have been transferred to Germany for further medical treatment.
Three of their commando colleagues died in the crash in northern Kandahar.
The injured are now being treated at Landstuhl Regional Medical Centre, a US military hospital in Germany.
Four are in a satisfactory condition, one is still in a serious condition and two are still in a very serious condition.
Private Benjamin Chuck, 27, Private Timothy Aplin, 38, and Private Scott Palmer, 27, died when the helicopter they were on crashed on its way to a mission south of the Australian base at Tarin Kowt.
Sixteen Australian soldiers have now been killed in the war since 2001.
