Mmm ...

The routes are a good idea .... not really fond of the concept of turning off the transponder within 10 nm of VOBB (re the Mumbai ops) kind of defeats the concept of TCAS doesn't it ..... these days I get quite paranoid with out it (the TCAS that is )

Oh well it is India .... isn't it .....

Yep, Heli corridors are a great idea & standard, common practise in the rest of the world. But standard practise is also VFR by day flights without a flight plan, without an ADC, without an FIC, without a H painted on the ground at a remote Heli-pad & all the other nonsense required here. When they scrap all that rubbish the Helicopters industry will really grow. Yes no TCAS = no idea, should be mandatory to be fitted & ON as is standard practise else where.

@spinwing: yes i guess TCAS becomes most essential when converging to such a busy airspace...
but then VFR is See and Avoid!!!

@Vertical Freedom: india has got a long way to go!!

Ha Yes Captchopper but is moving forward, albeit slowly. In the past 2 years I have seen a few positive moves to make things a bit easier, but they are still 25+years behind Rotory operations in the West
