Helicopter specific MCC?
Hi all
Am i right in thinking that these days you need to have a Heli specific MCC? I am currently looking at the possibility of doing a course myself in the hope it will make me a little more employable for offshore work.
It seems there a plenty of people who can offer a fixed wing course in the UK but i have not found many who can do a rotary specific one. So far i have found Bond at Gloucester and Veritair who are waiting for course approval...
If anyone has past experience of doing a course off their own back any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi,
we have had a MCC helicopter specific course in HELISIM, Marignane in France last year and I have to say that we are very satisfied with the course. They have DGAC (French CAA) approval for the course and it is adopted to helicopter type of operations which includes both IFR and VFR rules.
If you need aditional info you can PM me.
All the best!

All of the type rating courses provided by BHL, CHC and BOH are approved with combined MCC, although they do not all meet the requirements of JAR-FCL2. The only modular MCC(H) courses (both VFR and IFR) approved in the UK are provided by BAS in Gloucester using their EC135 FTD. Of course, as we all know, any MCC course approved by any JAA member state is of equal (or better) value. CAPT, whilst walking on water in most respects, do not provide MCC courses.

Cheers guys, im just looking into the possibilities at the moment. I realize that the big operators will provide MCC training as part of the initial type training on the Puma etc. I am only looking at it as a possible as someone said to me that it may help me out as i already have a Dauphin rating. For an operator to then get me an MCC stand alone course so i could work at one of the smaller bases might be more of a pain...? As i said im just looking at the options encase it becomes necessary.

MCC
It is my understanding that it would be a complete ‘pain in the arse’ for an operator to provide an MCC course that is not combined with the type rating, as it can only be done in the sim. That means booking sim time! Email me, as I have a solution.
