R22 Hire LA Basin
Gday,
I am looking to hire a R22 or similar in the LA basin.
I hold a basic FAA PPL (H) with a reasonable amount of fix wing time in a range of types.
I fully appreciate that check-rides are part of any pre private hire and have no problems with that or some additional duel, however I dont wish to be dragged through another 50 hrs dual just to be able to private hire.
Does anybody have any contacts or suggestions on companies/private owners in the LA basin that would be interested in hiring an R22 out for a few hours per month.
Also as a side question I would be very interested in doing a B47 rating if anybody can suggest a operator/owner able to do so.
I appreciate any advice and thanks in advance.

Why don't you get in touch with Robinson, they're based in LA (Torrance). I'm sure they will be able to provide you with dozens of suitable people.

Chinook Helicopters in Abbotsford, BC is a nice outfit, but I'd think twice about heading up to learn in a B47 at this time of year unless you have lots of warm clothing.

R22 rental in LA Long Beach airport LA Helicopters.
Professional outfit with nice guys running it
Chief pilots are Guillaume and Andre
either of them will put you through your paces before self fly hire but they won't take the P**s
I have done a lot of flying there and am in the middle of planning my next trip over there

I had a good time at Civic Helicopters at Carlsbad Airport some years ago - very professional outfit.
If you're in LA though, why not do the Robinson safety course - I haven't done it myself but would if I was there and had the time. Those I know who have done it recommend it.
