Met Police Chief Pilot Capt Brian Baldwin steps down!

I understand the Met's long serving chief helicopter pilot Capt Brian Baldwin has recently stepped down and been replaced by his understudy.

Does anyway out there know his history;the path that he took through his flying career and where he has gone now?

I did heard a rumour that he joined the CAA flying club in one capacity or another. I'm not whether this is this true or not?

I believe its all true!

Congrats to Brian on his move and congrats to Nick - I hope he gets a new 'Van' out of his promotion.

I've known Brian for a long time. Thumbnail sketch follows:
RN pilot (not sure what he flew operationally)
Attended ETPS in 1980
D Squadron at Boscombe Down 1981-1984(?)
Exchange Instructor at US Naval Test Pilot School, Patuxent River 1984-87(?)
Not sure of intervening years-
Instructor at original International Test Pilot School, Cranfield 1990-94(?)
Joined Met Police sometime in mid-90's.
Wish I had more details on dates.

Excellent background for the job with Met Police. Very nice man, and I wish him all the best in whatever he's doing!

Thank you Rigga and thank you Shawn Coyle for your responses. The results were very informative.

I myself don't know Capt Baldwin but equally I'd like to wish him all the best for the future.

Brian History

If its the Brian I knew, we worked together in Saudi back in the 70's. Lost touch after that.

I remember we both were accumulating properties then. 1 months pay = 1 house if you were crafty.

Those were the days.
