Enjoyed the show last night, very impressed by the skill of those flying on the mission.

Just a thought that they seemed to skim over in the programme..... but can anyone tell me how the Huey would have taken off after a vertical landing through the bamboo? They mentioned a running take-off but surely this wouldn't be easy with thick bamboo covering the take-off run?

Any thoughts to put my mind at rest would be appreciated!

The running take off would have to be from a different site ....if you have to land vertically you definitely have to take off the same way !!!!!

I just found the second episode to watch it online:
Helicopter Warfare 1x02 Vietnam
Ninjavideo.net - Helicopter Warfare 1x02 Vietnam (Divx Mirror)

Effluent Man: I think they made (obviously) a vertical take off, you only see a running take off for educational purposes

Zero G: I recommend you to read little bit more, there is nothing over the top.

Any U.K. resident volunteering to upload the next episode online?

Regards
Aser

I am pretty sure they said they had to do a running takeoff so it was not for educational reasons.
ZeroG i see you are only a baby (26) so i will let you off lightly ....You should show more respect for your elders and definitely ...betters . You were not there and i suspect you know nothing of what can be done in a dire emergency ....stick to your robbo ......
