Malaysian Grand Prix filming!

Just watching the Grand Prix from Malaysia, rain throwing it down, lightning striking nearby, and still getting heli cam shots!!! Hmmm.

Sensible??

Was thinking the same thing. Bet he's landed now. More of a river than a track!

I was thinking the same thing. Looked to be a 206L, hovering low over the start/finish line at the end.

Perhaps he will feel he was right because he survived this once

Not to mention the spectators and guys on the grid holding up umbrellas and spectators sheltering under trees at the top of the banking!

I completely agree Arandcee.
Think what would have happened if the umbrella being held above Jenson Button had taken a lightning bolt - according to Martin Brundle there was plenty of lightning around.

Seems the team strategists have weather radar at their fingertips.
Surprising they seem unable to predict severity of precip and thus select the right tyres for the conditions.

Why would anybody start a motor race at that time of the day in a tropical enviroment,I bet it had something to do with TV coverage rights.

Race timing ..

The race was pushed back from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm, to make it easier for the "western" viewers .. just like the Melbourne GP

The organisers forgot that this part of the world generally sees tropical rain in the late evenings ..

Because Bernie Ecclestone wants to make F1 more exciting (i.e. more crashes).

Cheers
