Gents let me clarify:
FOD is not excluded under any Hull policy ( if you do have this then your broker isn't doing their job), but the loss must come from a single recorded incident, and the engine must immediately be removed. Insurance does not cover wear, tear etc etc. With regards to reducing values of your aircraft, this is a false economy, as insurers will look to increase your rates, the way they do this is usually by using something called 70/30 scale. so for example, your aircraft has an agreed value of $2m and your current hull rate is 2% the gross premium (not including taxes) you would pay is $40,000, so say the coming renewal you reduce the hull value to say $1.5m, insurers generally wouldn't then charge you 2% on the new value (being $30,000), they would more then likely 70/30 your current rate of 2% and then this would become 2.2% and therfore your hull premium would be $33,000.
Trust this helps.

It also doesnt cover you if say a windscreen wiper fell of and went into the engine or a piece of the engine cowel comes off and goes through .......it still means a new engine .....but NO insurance !!!!! Is there any cover out there which would cover ingestion of a part of the helicopter into the engine ?
If not then you have to accept that even with full insurance you could get a $200k bill for engine damage on a AS 350 ..... That is why if i EVER get another 350 it will be an FX and no way turbomeca .

insurance

Have you tried insurance for G reg aircraft from elsewhere in the EU - as we are members !

I insure my Allouete via Austria - 5 seats, 4 Eu pax both private and commercial use cover, training cover, nil hull value, meets or exceeds EU requirements, Full EASA machine, full required cover.

UK quote £8,400

Austria Cost Euro 800 (thats NOT a typo !!)

The company is Allianz same underwriter used by some UK providers.

They offer hull insurance but I did not require that

Why consider self insurance, lay off the third party risks cheaply and carry the hull risks oneself (or perhaps form/join a group to cross cover each member for the hull cover). Self insurance makes one Very (even more) cautious.

I ensured an Enstrom for 5 yrs at £6K per year with no claims I paid out half the value of the machine !

However, I was unlikely and had to claim once for a fix wing I damaged, it was insured with Haywards, They were GREAT I could not have asked for a better experience, they were fast, accurate, honest, paid promptly, just perfect. If you want full hull insurance I am sure they are hard to beat for service.

I guess, in the end 'you pays you money and takes you chance'

Try other EU states, particularly new members, in some you go through an operator or get cover under a group policy, lots of detail to check out but it has work out well for me.

Insurance represents a considerable part of the hrly cost, with all costs rising saving in insurance costs help keep us flying

Good hunting !

Just went through insuring an R44 II for Euro 2000/year, includes everything that is required and more (ie. pax insurance), commercial, private, training etc... (cost went slightly up from last year which was around Euro 1700/year). Insurer in Germany, ship not.

Full hull coverage on a Euro 250,000 value was around Euro 9,000 last year, with a 15% yearly discount if there is no claim. It's like 3.95% of the value if I am not wrong.

Used VFR Gruemmer, vfs-gruemmer.de/english/start.html
(no relationship to them, except this said insurance)

The idea of SFH was only on hull and NOT third party . As i have said before we need at least 20 machines to really make it viable but i would expect the savings to be substantial . Anyone interested and PM some details of machine , value etc
Runway ..i dont understand your post . The 2000 euro , was that just third party or all in incl hull ? Your figures for hull at 3.9% is very expensive ....mine was nearer 2.5%.

Try Windsors.

We've had a couple of aircraft with them for the last two years, and they have just got the whole fleet. The actual money saving was quite small, but the cover is more extensive. The broker spent a long time getting exactly what we wanted. Haywards seemed to think it should be theirs by right.

My Yak is due for renewal in two months and I will probably put that with Wndsors as well.

Hi,

Im looking into buying a Robinson R22 around the £50-£60k mark.
I have just over 350 hours all on the the R22 and will do no more
than 100 hours a year in it.
Who is the best for insurance quotes and how much are you other R22 owners paying for it?
