No Hangar - 4 weeks to go - Trouble brewing for Apache
Word has it that Jayrow operations in Karratha may cease as of 1st Feb 2009 when the Jayrow people are removed from their hangar by the WA Police.
They sold it some time (1 year plus) ago and haven't built a new one.
No hangar = no fly
How will the Apache guys get to and from work?
Sux to be in there boots, sympathies to the pilots if the rumors are true

I find it very hard to believe that they would be going to let that happen, it would definately be difficult/ if not impossible to operate without a hangar but that is an un-imaginable oversight if it was to happen.
What do the police want the hangar Jayrow are currently operating out of for? Housing a PC12? Do the police have another hangar elsewhere on the field?
Anyway, I am sure we will discover the outcome soon enough.

wow, who's going to take on the Apache contract? I hear Bristow have a surplus of Super Puma's without contracts (i'm sure Apache won't be interested in paying for one of them nor a clapped out S76A+). No facility would mean no contract for Jayrow. Anybody got any juicy info on this!

"in due course"
1. At the appropriate time.
Harvey Norman,
You seem to know a little about this subject, or maybe somebody is pulling your strings while you type??
If things happen 'in due course' could you please explain why a lease was not secured 18 months ago and why a lease still has not been secured in YPKA?

Igor13,
Bang on........
Mirrors are being installed into the "Glass Palace" so the person responsible can have good hard look at himself.
Feel sorry for the engineers.... getting hot up that way at the moment. I hope management has purchased a nice supply of umbrellas.

The bunch of guys in Karratha are a small very loyal, closely knit hard working team (this includes all staff members) who look out for each other and go that extra mile. Until 6 months ago they were also a happy and content crew but unfortunately that loyalty and committment has been abused and arrogantly disregarded.
A Mushroom management sytle has now been implemented by HQ for some time.
Shame but I guess the other more stable operators in the industry will ultimately gain from this mess.

So Homeless,
Are you confirming that Jayrow are going to cease operations in Karratha, sounds like you have a bit of inside info there. Have your leaders inspired you with a grand plan?

A lucky escape
In typical half ass fashion jayrow bailed itself out of the sh!t at the last minute.
Well it appears the staff in Kta did anyway, from what I hear management didn't have a plan so the engineers and pilots found their own hangar to keep operating out of. Scraped it in by about 2 days, lucky the staff at Jayrow care about the future of the business because the bosses sure don't appear to.
It might be a half ass solution but a solution none the less, I am sure everyone in location is thanking their lucky stars to still have a job in these troubled financial times.
Score
Kta staff = 1
Jayrow management = 0
Unfortunately I am not authorised to award negative scores.

Staff have told that the new hangar will be ready by the end of April (NOTE: which year was not stated)...
As mentioned, the Karratha staff have pulled management out of the sh1t.
Good luck getting the hangar built by April, i'm thinking it is more bullsh!t flowing out of "Chifley".
Less spin doctoring and more action from the "chairman" would be appreciated from the staff whose jobs depend on the contracts being fulfilled.

I see the Jayrow Circus has erected the big top at Karratha.....
Now if they could only get the clowns out of Chifley to join the fun....
The Greatest Show on Earth, ummmm I think not...

Homelesstoo,
I think they have already done that!
You included!
They had to redesign their new hangar to suit the bigger aircraft.
But you knew that didn't you?

High Nr,
Bigger aircraft?? thinking of using the 40+yr old 61's in the Pilbara or the "soon to be introduced" 139's.
With the rumoured tie up between Cougar and HNZ, and this weeks spat with Era, are the 139's going to be operated in house?

pd2 – You spell Hangar with an “a” not an “e”.
But you knew that, right?
The boys advise that the new frame of the Taj Mahal is there in all its spender and will be finished after the workers have their Xmas break.
Big enough for two S92’s and a 139 side / side, or three 139’s.
Interesting!!
