What DC headset (model/serial number) is used on the S92 and S76C+?

No, 8 ohm is low impedance, used by the military. In every US helicopter I've ever flown, any standard DC headset will work, as long as it's a civilian model. Some European operators use low impedance avionics, for whatever reasons, and you may need to check the individual aircraft to make sure. As for down under, I have no idea what is used, but no matter the location, 8 ohm is low impedance, 300 ohm is high impedance.

I remember flying a Bell 412 with high impedance; Agusta Bell 412's comes from factory with low impedance system.

High impedance mic

CJ,

I have a David Clark H10-76XL which I used on older model S76's. I then had a friendly Greenie converted it to a High Impedance (Carbon) mic, which I used on the 76C+. It also works well on the S92.

Regards,

Doc

I have used one of these for years in all sorts of helicopters.....

David Clark H10-66 Deluxe Dual Impedance Helicopter Headset

It has a toggle switch for selecting which impedance system you need.

Unfortunally H10-66 dual impedance headsets doesn't work fine on modern Agusta '39 (all agusta's except 412 comes with factory high impedance intercoms).
When I plug headsets in with toogle switch on "high" it results in a extremely high "beeep" tone.

IMHO Bose headsets are great till they run out of batteries; after that you will end up with a gear without minimum ear protection.
This could be a big issue douring long haul flights in very noisy office.
I fly 412 and 139 in OS and Hems and my personal headgear are: peltor headset +CEP & HGU-56+CEP.
In short terms maximum passive protection.

Cheers

Did you try the Search function?

UK US headset plug thread.

Impedance thread.

Bose and impedance thread.

General thread on headsets.

Yours are not stupid questions, but a bit of research for yourself may help

Try the Lightspeed Zulu. Much like the Bose but is $200 CDN cheaper and has Bluetooth, iPod adapter, and slide volume controls. The ANR is the same as the Bose, and wheh it runs out of battery juice (~35-40 flying hrs), can get a tad noisy. Only draw back is mic changability if you are flying different helicopter types (A++, C++). The mic also doesn't swivel around like the DC, therefore there is a right and left ear only fitting.

Lightspeed Aviation - ANR, Passive and In-the-ear pilot headsets - Zulu
