No, but I'm sure any western aviation regulatory staff looking at that are going "Hmmmmm . . ."

Why? All looks like pretty normal commercial flying to me.

Different rules in China, mate. ATC is GOD and if they clear you to do something then you are fireproof. During my first month in China in 1994 I was tasked to do some photographic work in Shenzhen. I was cleared right down to 50 metres. I spent 45 minutes of legalised hooliganism wracking it around the office buildings getting my shots. There is nothing like looking at the eyes of office workers on the 20th floor of a 60 floor office block watching a S76 coming straight at them with all the lights on.

Apart from COHC there are only a few helicopters operating out of Shenzhen. It wasn't a CHOC Dauphin, unlikely to have been the police helicopter which narrows it down the the Shenzhen TV unit.

For those with a map the area was Shenzhen city to Aoutou and back.

Fareastdriver, I was hoping for a reply from somebody knowledgeable like from yourself, thanks!

At around 1:00 in the video it actually looks like there were two helicopters in the air (one filming a Robinson flying by some buildings). Any idea where the TV Robinsons are based at? At the Shenzhen International Airport?

n.b. I know a chap (flight instructor) playing with the thought of setting up shop in Shenzhen, opening a RHC dealership and small scale helicopter operation... not sure if they would let him though. He's wifey came from somewhere near Shenzhen.

I know things are different elsewhere in the world. Oh dear, am I that misunderstood ?

Sort of thinking we could do with a touche more freedom over here like that, not "SHOULDN'T THEY BE WORKING LIKE THE REST OF THE WORLD DOES".

GA helicopters in China are virtually unknown. Airspace is so heavily regulated that any movement needs prior authorisation. Even in wide open VFR there has to be 5 mins seperation between aircraft. The time will come eventually but only when the PLA loses its grip.
All our pilots, so far, in COHC were trained by the Chinese Navy. They are thinking about a civilian training system but they will probably, like China Southern etc be trained overseas.
