Modular CPL(H) done in an USA (JAA certified School)is fully valid in JAA countries ?

Hi There

I´m finishing my ATPL(H) with an UK grundschool, in order to convert an ICAO license CPL(H) to JAA.
I´ve been consulting the prices to do the conversion hours + the IR in USA (that cost less than half of European prices).

I´ve consulted schools that are JAA certified there, and what i would need help on, if someone can informe me of:

- With the theory done in UK (with CAA), may i fly the conversion hours in a (JAA) USA school ?
- If i fly in USA the conversion hours, will the license be a full un-restricted JAR FCL, to fly in any JAA country ?
- Who will issue the license if i do the conversion flight´s in USA ? (CAA, or FAA) ?

Any help would be apreciated, thanks a lot

JAA in USA - country of issue - (license)

Can you please also tell me who issued your license ? Was it issued by CAA, and is it a fully JAA un-resctricted to any JAA country?
Or is FAA to issue it ?

Thanks a lot for your help mate

Bristows are the only US school who can train for a JAA license, the UK CAA will issue the license since they authorise the school and it will be a full, unrestricted license with a type rating for the type you do the test on.

UK system requires further type ratings for any other helicopter type.

You cannot do the IR out of Europe, tho you could get reduced training requirements if you already hold an IR from elsewhere.

Note that the "reduced requirements" often don't count due to the different systems between certain countries, and you can spend the hours remaining after the exemption is applied just relearning the basics. It is often easier just to do the IR in Europe.

I dont think Cloud 9 are actually running a JAA CPL course, but they have partnered up with Dragon Helicopters to continue the 1 and 2 week grounds school part of the distance learning course. You will still have to find a JAA approved flight school to do your flight test, and at the moment, you still have to go to Gatwick to do the JAA CPL(H) written exams.

Question Cloud 9

So are Cloud 9 going to run a JAA CPL(H) Modular or Integrated Course? Anybody know? Will it compare to Bristow Academy?

Is the ground school part of the distance learning in place now in Florida at Cloud 9? Will it be only at Melbourne? When will we see it advertised?

All these questions!

I hardly think it will compare with Bristow.
