I have just logged on to find this terrible news, I flew with Steve throughout my career in the AAC, he was, as stated a true professional and always ready to help and guide younger members of the unit.

Always remembered and never forgotten. Farewell Steve

Steve was different. I served as a pilot with him in 662 Squadron Soest from '85 to '87 and unlike almost all pilots (myself included) there was no hint of vanity or conceit in him. He treated everyone the same, from the CO to the most junior Aircraftsman. He had respect and made time for everyone.

I cannot recall Steve raising his voice, even when things (as they often did) went wrong, be it on exercise or in the crew room.
