Too good to be true?

BARNSTORMERS.COM

600TT and only $175,000. What's the catch? Not that I have that much to spend, but it sounds like a great deal to me.

Hmmm. Doesn't look like it, Whirls:

G-XLIV

A typo, maybe? Or a repossession? Or that flood of Silverstate machines has really, really hit secondhand values...?

Or, that's actually the '£' price, not the '$' price...

Its been on ebay for a few months now at £100k market isn't looking good for a machine where the life is running out by the day, under 4 years left for 100k, not such a bargain then.

I think this end of the market is going to be quite lucrative for buyers, particularly for R22s/R44s, where the 'supply and demand' numbers will determine the pricing.

I think it might be linked to this thread.

Heli's on Flea Bay

They belong to me and my business partner. I am Helimove Ltd, he is Rotormotive Ltd. We went to the USA back in April and viewed the Silver State stock.

ivakontrol,

Don't worry it's not linked. G-XLIV was never a SilverState machine. (Check the GINFO link above).

I reckon rotorboater's got it right - less than 4 years to run until rebuild.

New main rotor blades 2006 with only 150 hrs on
Do the math. Something happened at 510 hours to that machine and both rotor blades were involved?

As Rotorboater said, it has been on eBay for a while.

On the Ebay ads for this and some ex-Silver State R22's, it's worth carefully comparing the wording:

ROBINSON R44 RAVEN I HELICOPTER ONLY 650TT SINCE NEW on eBay, also, Aircraft, Aircraft Aviation, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 30-Oct-08 18:44:44 GMT)

ROBINSON R22 BETA II HELICOPTER 2007 AND 1200TT on eBay, also, Aircraft, Aircraft Aviation, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 30-Oct-08 18:45:44 GMT)

To be fair, if I was in the market for an R44 and understood the 'opportunity' and/or risk, I would go and have a look.

I wonder what happened to the bike Orange County Choppers built for Silver State?
(A bit off topic but I saw the episode recently).

It also has damage history re the blades, this combined with the low years left is the reason for the price. Many r44's getting to their 12 years without having done their 2200 hours. Wonder if the R66 will have the same lifespan!

I may be wrong but I think you can find it on you tube. Someone airmailed it from a few hundred feet.

If thats not correct Im sure I will be corrected.

Here's the vid in all its glory. Some comment that it's all staged for the telly though.

That bike drop was a stunt. It wasn't the real bike.

Yeah it was a windup for the crowd and I think Paul Sr. After the crowd watched all that unfold the real bike was driven up!
