Best bet is to get some marketable qualifications in addition to the hours. If you have IR(H), FI(H), IRI, CRMI, TRI and civvy type ratings you have many more strings to your bow. Unfortunately, a couple of months to go is leaving it a bit late if you havent got any of these now. If you dont have IR, your best bet with your military experience is to look at Police/ Air Ambulance operators - I'm sure you know who the main players are. There are a lot of ex-military people in that field, and they will have contacts to find out if you are a "good egg".
The job market is probably more buoyant in the Middle East if you havent considered that. A lot of operators are buying new aircraft out there at the moment.

Best of luck - I was in your position 5 yrs ago, and I was lucky enough to get straight into a police/HEMS job, which was a great way to start.

Mmmmm ...

Before you part out get a ride with your unit IP and renew ALL proficiancies and ratings ... this will give you the maximum time to use same for credits against civvy licences you may wish to take ...

Happysod,

I assume you have a CPL(H) already.

I see you are listed as Northern Ireland. It was a great place to be about 3 months ago for jobs with private owners as the market was very good with lots of new machines arriving. I know south of the border the market as collapsed with lots of machines for sale, not sure if the north is affected. Don't go near the bloke with a nicely shiny machine on the border!

PSNI always seem to want people so talk to PremiAir as they currently have the pilotage contract. Don't listen to SkyhighUlster as he has a thing about them! They are a great bunch to work with.

I wouldn't rush to get an IR just yet. See what is needed first. If you do have access to any grants I would spend it on one of the common type ratings or if you have a lot of money then go for an IR that also gives you a decent type rating e.g AS355 or EC135. Bit of a queue though for IRs at the schools at the moment.

Good luck.

Thanks for the advice...... but just a cpl of questions:-

1. Is having most of 2500 + mostly on single engine such a disadvantage???

2. If i do need to get a type rating, what ac would be the best to get it on? If so who would be the best company to get it with??

3. Middle East?? I have heard of the new contract starting up over there, but i don't suppose anyone has a contact for them?

Sorry to be digging, but as most of you prob know that its a whole new cattle of fish out there once you leave, and having some good contacts in places can help. But after paying the ex off with my lump sum the only thing i can get a type rating on at the moment is a Airfix EC155!!!

BUT if thats what i have to do to get a look in with these companies then thats what i have to do.

Cheers anyway for the advice
