Thumbs up Cougar go Global

I see that Cougar helicopters has send 2 S92s, 1 S61 and an EC135 to Angola for the elections...are they going to try and access the offshore markets in West Africa too on completion? I also believe that they are already operating a S61 in Australia - good to see

The S61 was just doing the fire season in WA last year. Will probably be back this year.

hammerhead,

Cougar in Angola is quite probably for the elections, like the press release said. To become a player in the Angolan oil patch they will need to get in with Sonangol or Heli Malongo, both of whom seem to be quite happy with the status quo.

It would be nice if they did get back into the international scene if for nothing else than broadening the gene pool.

you are right. they are there for the election at the moment. but who knows what's happening after that...the iron is already there!
i'm pretty sure we'll see them more and more on the international stage as they are expanding quite a bit. i tried to add a second link from the feb/march 2008 issue of vertical magazine. (...didn't work!) it's about the vih aviation group and their expansion to a global level. they have 25 new aircraft, worth $300 million (cad) on order. as350 b3 bell 407, ec135, ec145, aw 139, s92 and positions for the new s76d.
