type rating

hello everyone
If, and this is a big if, I was ever to make it into a position that I could find myself qualified enough to apply to North Sea firms for a job, would I be expected to fund a type rating for the sort of helicopters they use, or would that come as part of the employment package? And if I was expected to fund it, how much would it be? I've looked on Bond and Eurocopter websites where they advertise the type rating courses, but don't give any prices. I've emailed both of them, but got no reply - and that was nearly a fortnight ago.
Once again, thanks in anticipation for your advice
Sean

and then if they want to type rate you onto a 2nd type, make sure that's at their expense and not giving you another two year bond. !!

All you need these days is a CPL, SE or ME IR, 300hrs, and loads of luck.

As always, very valuable advice and comments, thanks everyone. I wonder if Argos, Lidl, or Pound Stretcher have any plans to start selling cheap simulators?
