25th April ANZAC Day

On behalf of my old Dad and his father, who both met a lot of you chaps, I would like to thank all you good people from Oz,... For what you gave and did for us in the Northern part of our Orb,

You all have my sincere regards.

Sorry, I should also have mentioned the Kiwi Bravehearts as well!

Thanks mate,

Lest we forget.....

This year is a bit of a mile stone for us Aussies. I saw on the telly that there were the same number of Australians celebrating ANZAC day at Gallipoli cove, as there were lost on the beaches during the conflict......

That's a lot of very proud Aussies ......

The Kiwi's deserve a mention here too.

Cheers.

They shall grow not old,
As we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them,
Nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun,
And in the morning
We will remember them. Lest we Forget.

From a yank, hat tip to the Aussies and Kiwis who gave all, and to those who served and continue to serve their countries.

Yes and particularly invigorating was the first ANZAC service at Villers-Bretonneux this year. Two links attached below. I will go to that one day and Gallipoli.

I didn't get to see much of it this year but certainly enjoyed watching Keith Payne VC, with his comments at the Currumbin beach (qld) service. Keith suggested that the more kids that attended the ANZAC sevices, then the more thought via the youth of today, there would be put into learning from the errors of the past where these great conflicts occurred.

Currently slowly devouring a book by Chester Wilmot, "Tobruk 1941". An excellent read, and description of the Diggers and Tommys with their valient defense of that outpost.

He suggests that the word "Digger" was coined from General Sir Ian Hamilton's instructions to General Birdwood to "Dig, dig dig' after they had landed at gallipoli and were pinned down. bit of trivia.

G’day all,

Just go back from a HUET trainer’s conference in Malaysia for Asian safety training providers. Of the 35 people attending there were four Aussies and one Kiwi, and during closing comments the group were given a brief history of ANZAC, with an invitation to have a beer that night. It was a great sight to see Vietnamese, Korean, Thai’s, Singaporean, Philppino’s, Indians and Malaysians, all pissed, playing Two-Up in a KL bar – lest we forget.
